The fifth round of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship was a landmark occasion in American motocross, as the series made its long-awaited return to the state of Florida. For the first time in 22 years, the world's most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing championship competed in the Sunshine State, with Jacksonville's WW Ranch Motocross Park becoming the newest addition to the sport's storied legacy. The inaugural US Assure Florida National ultimately proved to be one of the toughest challenges in recent memory, where the already tough sand track combined with high temperatures and high humidity to push riders to the limit. The athletes who ultimately prevailed to become the maiden winners at WW Ranch fought hard to earn every bit of their success.
In the 450 Class, the focus centered on co-point leaders Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen entering the race. However, when all was said and done, it was Frenchman Marvin Musquin who stood atop the podium, earning his first win of the season for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. In the battle for the championship, both Tomac and Roczen endured through up and down afternoons, with the champ finishing the day with sole possession of the red plate.
In the 250 Class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo looked to extend his winning streak in his home state, but he found himself giving chase all afternoon and came up short in his bid for five in a row. That opened the door for Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper to finally break through and capture the first win of his professional career and gain valuable points on Cianciarulo in the title fight.
See how it all went down during the championship's first visit to WW Ranch Motocross Park!
