Watch: Justin Cokinos Leads 125 All Star Charge at RedBud
Prior to the start of the opening 450 Class moto at the Circle K RedBud National, the patriotic 4th of July Michigan fans were treated to a 2-stroke showcase during the 125cc All Star Series. The smell of premix and the beloved hum of nearly 40 2-strokes buzzed around the famed RedBud Motocross track, shredding through the dark, loamy soil as fans lined the fenceline.
The battle for the victory came down to 17-year-old phenom Justin Cokinos and former professional racer and one of Michigan's all-time greats Nick Wey. The youngster Cokinos managed to place himself near the front of the field off of the start, while Wey battled his way through the pack, slowly bridging the gap as the race wore on. In the end, the Massachusetts based Cokinos held on to take the victory aboard his Factory Connection/The Wick/Hutch Motorsports KTM 125 SX. The crowd favorite Wey muscled his AEO Powersports/Answer Racing/Arma Sport Husqvarna TC 125 to the runner-up position. Kentucky's Luke Vonlinger rounded out the podium in third, on a VBMX Schools/TZR/FXR Husqvarna.
