Deltran Battery Tender RC Hard Charger Award: Spring Creek

As longtime partners of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, it's fitting that Deltran Battery Tender serves as the title sponsor of the series specialty award that embodies the company's products. As a manufacturer of the world's most trusted and reliable household commercial battery chargers, jump starters, inverters, and other accessories for vehicles, Battery Tender is a lot like the most accomplished rider in the history of American motocross, Ricky Carmichael.
With more than 100 career wins and 10 career championships in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, Carmichael is the standard bearer of success, and it's why he's affectionately known as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time). Exactly 10 years ago, Pro Motocross cemented Carmichael's legacy in American motocross with the introduction of the Ricky Carmichael Hard Charger Award. This award recognizes the one competitor at each of the 12 rounds of the championship who overtakes the highest number of his fellow racers in either moto of the 450 Class.
The RC Hard Charger Award is a testament to the never-give-up attitude Carmichael displayed over the course of a dominant career that will likely never be duplicated. Each recipient of the Deltran Battery Tender RC Hard Charger Award is recognized at the riders meeting at the following national, where he is awarded with a custom-designed trophy.
It was an afternoon filled with attrition at Spring Creek, as heavy rains provided truly challenging conditions for the riders in the 450 Class. For most of the field, it became a battle for survival and unfortunately for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Jason Anderson, he found himself as a member of that group.
Anderson endured through his worst outing of the season in which he found himself mired in opening-lap incidents in both motos and was forced to start near the tail end of the field. Being the competitor that he is, Anderson never gave up and battled his way through the running order to earn a respectable finish on what could have easily been a disastrous afternoon. He passed 20 riders in the opening moto to climb his way from 32nd to 12th, and proceeded to past 15 more riders in Moto 2 to come from 25th to 10th for a grand total of 35 passes for the afternoon.
In passing those 20 riders in Moto 1, Anderson deservedly earned the RC Hard Charger Award at Spring Creek, but he should be given extra recognition for the total amount of work he did across both motos.
