Roczen and Sexton Top Budds Creek Qualifying

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship's penultimate round of the 2019 season is officially underway and qualifying has wrapped up for the annual GEICO Motorcycle Budds Creek National. In typical Southern Maryland fashion, hot and humid weather has once again found the area and fitness is sure to play a role in the results at the end of the day.

For the second consecutive week, the 450 Class saw Team Honda HRC's Ken Roczen jump to the top of the timing sheets with a 2:00.432 that came in the first session. Following Roczen was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Marvin Musquin, recording a 2:01.353 in the second session. Reigning champion Eli Tomac was third aboard his Monster Energy Kawasaki with a 2:02.306.

In the 250 Class, the final session proved to be the deciding factor for who would end up with the fastest lap time of the morning. At the checkered flag it was GEICO Honda's Chase Sexton emerging atop the time sheets with a best lap of 2:02.280 that he clocked towards the end of the session. Behind Sexton, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo logged a 2:02.814, just 0.6 seconds off the lead, while Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Dylan Ferrandis followed in third with a 2:03.215
