The day has finally arrived and bikes are on the track to officially start the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. After a couple days of intermittent thunderstorms the track at Loretta Lynn's Ranch proved to be extremely technical as pros took to the legendary circuit for the first time ever. Riders across both the 450 Class and 250 Class did all they could to just keep the bike on two wheels through many of the rutted corners, and it led to an intriguing pair atop the time sheets.

In his debut race aboard a 450cc for Team Honda HRC, premier class rookie Chase Sexton was the surprise fastest qualifier in the 450 Class with a time of 1:58.840 in the final session. He was followed by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cooper Webb (1:59.683) in second and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Zach Osborne (1:59.708) in third. Reigning three-time series champion Eli Tomac encountered misfortune when his Monster Energy Kawasaki became stuck in a rut, which cost Tomac valuable time and resulted in seventh in the running order (2:01.104).

In the 250 Class, title hopeful Dylan Ferrandis got his season off to a flying start by pacing the smaller displacement aboard his Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing machine. The Frenchman isn't typically known for his qualifying speed, but he was impressive in his ability to navigate the treacherous track, posting a time of 2:00.222 to lead the way. In second was GEICO Honda's Jeremy Martin (2:03.847), with Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper third (2:04.135).
