Thunder Valley National Qualifying - Pro Motocross Championship

The penultimate round of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is underway from Colorado's mile-high Thunder Valley Motocross Park. Qualifying is complete at the WPS/FLY Racing Thunder Valley National, establishing the starting lineup and order of gate selection for the pair of scheduled motos in both the 450 Class and 250 Class.

A strong second half of the 2020 season continued for 450 Class rookie Adam Cianciarulo, who posted the fastest time aboard his Monster Energy Kawasaki. The two-time winner this season and current occupant of second in the championship standings laid down a lap of 2:05.336 in the second session, putting him a full second ahead of Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS' Blake Baggett in second (2:06.384). Current point leader Zach Osborne posted the seventh-fastest lap aboard his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing machine (2:08.901).

In the 250 Class, Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper carried the momentum of his first overall podium finish of the season one week ago to lead the way. Cooper, who finished in a tie for the win at this event last season, topped the time sheets with a lap of 2:07.574 in what was a quicker first session for many in the 250 Class. He narrowly edged out teammate Shane McElrath by a tenth of a second (2:07.690), while fellow Star Yamaha rider and championship leader Dylan Ferrandis rounded out a sweep of the top three times for the Yamaha squad (2:08.097).
