The 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is officially underway and action has been ongoing throughout the morning with practice and qualifying for the season opening DirtBikeKidz Fox Raceway I National in Southern California. With the timed sessions officially complete, two familiar names put themselves atop the time sheets at Fox Raceway to capture some early momentum.

In the 450 Class it was Monster Energy Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo who led the way with a fastest time of 2:18.793, which put him nearly a second ahead of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Marvin Musquin in second (2:19.559). In his first Pro Motocross race since 2019, Team Honda HRC's Ken Roczen posted the third-fastest time at 2:20.443. Defending 450 Class Champion Zach Osborne clocked in 12th aboard his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing machine with a time of 2:22.847.

In the 250 Class, Team Honda HRC's Jett Lawrence's fondness for Fox Raceway was on display yet again. The Australian broke through for his first career win in Pala last October and has now put himself at the head of the pack in qualifying with a time of 2:20.389, ahead of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Austin Forkner (2:20.710), who will make his first Pro Motocross start since the 2018 season. Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper completed the top three with a time of 2:20.814. The lead trio were the only 250 Class riders to break into the 2:20 range.
