After making a valiant attempt to battle through a reoccurring nerve issue, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo underwent surgery on his right arm in an effort to correct the problem. As a result, last year's 450 Class championship runner-up will be forced to miss the remainder of the 2021 season.
The culmination of Cianciarulo's ongoing battle came at the Spring Creek National. While running second in the first moto, the Kawasaki rider crashed but quickly reentered the action. Shortly thereafter he pulled into the mechanics area and ultimately recorded a DNF. Cianciarulo failed to line up on the gate for Moto 2, which suggested a more significant concern had presented itself. He took to social media to explain the details of the situation.
Kawasaki Racing also issued an announcement regarding Cianciarulo's surgery on social media.
