Following a hard crash during the second 250 Class moto at the Washougal National, Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Colt Nichols has announced via Instagram that he will sit out the Unadilla National in an effort to ensure he's at full health when he returns to racing.

Nichols needed assistance to get off the track after his incident, but ultimately came away with no significant or long-term injuries. However, he did endure a significant impact to his shoulder, which necessitated some rest and recovery. While Nichols is back on the bike, he intends to take the extra time to ensure he's at his full potential, targeting a return at the Budds Creek National in one week's time.

He currently sits seventh in the 250 Class standings with a top 10 finish in five of the seven races, including a trio of top-five finishes.
