Ferrandis and Lawrence Set the Tone in Qualifying at Ironman

A busy morning at Ironman Raceway has concluded with practice and qualifying complete amidst what looks to be the most challenging weather conditions of the season thus far. Hot temperatures and high humidity have combined to test the physical and mental fortitude of the world's fastest riders. At the end of the timed sessions, 450 Class point leader Dylan Ferrandis led the way aboard his Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing machine, while Team Honda HRC's Jett Lawrence paced the 250 Class.

Ferrandis relied on a late flying lap in the final session to top the time sheets and became the lone rider to post a sub 1-minute, 59-second lap. The Frenchman's time of 1:58.267 put him more than a second clear of Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac in second (1:59.313), while Team Honda HRC's Ken Roczen followed in third (1:59.597).
