How to Watch: Carson City Motorsports Hangtown Motocross Classic

Friday, September 10, 2021 | 6:00 PM

The journey of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is coming to an end, as a summer of incredible drama, excitement and memorable competition will culminate with American motocross' oldest event, the Carson City Motorsports Hangtown Motocross Classic. The hallowed grounds of Northern California's Prairie City SVRA will bring the season to a close, ending a 28-month hiatus from Hangtown that dates back to the opening round of the 2019 season.

The spotlight for the 12th and final round will center on the 250 Class, as the smaller displacement takes center stage to see who will emerge to hoist the Gary Jones Cup. The season-long rivalry between Team Honda HRC's Jett Lawrence and Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper has been something to behold, but Lawrence's late-season run of dominance has given the Australian a 23-point cushion over his Yamaha foe. No matter what happens, the world's most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series will welcome its 33rd different member to a decorated list of 250 Class champions.

In the 450 Class, Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Dylan Ferrandis will enjoy a victory lap as the newly crowned champion. The Frenchman has amassed a historic rookie year in the premier division and is poised to become just the ninth rider in history to finish on the overall podium at every round during his first season of full-time competition. Behind him, the battle for the runner-up spot in the championship is still up for grabs, as Team Honda HRC's Ken Roczen and Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac will battle down to the final moto. These former champions have won every Hangtown Classic dating back to 2014, with three wins apiece, and will look to keep that dominance intact as they chase second place in the final standings.

In the United States, coverage of the Carson City Motorsports Hangtown Motocross Classic will get underway with a live broadcast of the first motos on MAVTV Motorsports Network, followed by a next-day telecast of the second motos on NBC Sports Network. Additionally, all the action, including exclusive coverage of qualifying, can also be streamed live on Peacock. Internationally, fans in more than 50 countries and territories can watch via NBC Sports Gold and through linear distribution partners.

As an added bonus, Peacock subscribers will be treated to exclusive extended coverage following the final checkered flag of the season, as the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Postseason Special, presented by MotoSport.com, will celebrate the 2021 champions, commemorate the most memorable moments of the summer, and recognize many of the most significant accomplishments of a highly competitive campaign.
