Anderson and Cooper Set the Pace in Hangtown Qualifying
The second round of the 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is underway in Northern California, as qualifying has completed for the Carson City Motorsports Hangtown Motocross Classic. Overcast skies and cool temperatures have provided ideal racing conditions and should result in another compelling afternoon of racing.
Jason Anderson made the first statement of the day in the 450 Class with his first fast qualifier effort for Monster Energy Kawasaki. His time of 2:06.296 in the final session was enough to bump point leader and Team Honda HRC rider Chase Sexton from the top spot with a time of 2:06.660, while Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing's Eli Tomac followed in third with a time of 2:06.726.
A familiar name ascended to the top of the time sheets in the 250 Class, as Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper laid down a blistering lap of 2:05.812 in the opening session to best all riders, in either division. He was followed by defending champion and current point leader Jett Lawrence, who posted a time of 2:06.874 aboard his Team Honda HRC machine, while his teammate and brother, Hunter Lawrence, rounded out the top three with a time of 2:06.986.
