A recent announcement from ESPN unveiled the 2022 ESPY Award nominations, where newly crowned Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champion and three-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Eli Tomac is nominated for his first ESPY Award in the Best Athlete, Men’s Action Sports category.
The Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing rider enjoyed a memorable Supercross season in his debut with the team, winning seven races during the grueling 17-round championship, which also included 11 total podium finishes en route to his second 450SX Class title in three seasons. The Colorado native has kept the momentum going into the summer with an impressive start to the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Halfway through the 12-round season, Tomac has amassed three straight wins and now sits one point out of the championship lead in the 450 Class with six rounds remaining.
Voting for the 2022 ESPY Awards is now open and fans of the sport can cast their vote for Tomac through Sunday, July 17, at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET.
Tomac is joined in the Best Athlete, Men's Action Sports category by American freestyle skier and 2022 Winter Olympic Gold Medalist, Alexander Hall, Japanese snowboarder and 2022 Winter Olympic Gold Medalist, Ayumu Hirano, and Japanese skateboarder and 2020 Summer Olympic Gold Medalist, Yuto Horigome.
