Musquin, Cooper Set the Pace in Southwick Qualifying

New England's most beloved motocross track marks the halfway point of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, as The Wick 338 will once again provide riders with their most unique challenge of the summer. Qualifying for the MB Tractor & Equipment Southwick National has wrapped up, and following a pair of sessions across the 450 Class and 250 Class it was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Marvin Musquin and Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper who set the pace.

Fresh off his first overall win of the season last weekend, Musquin's confidence is clearly riding high and he kept the momentum rolling in qualifying. Last year's winner of the Southwick National laid down a time of 2:07.563 to put himself at the top of the time sheets, well clear of Team Honda HRC's Ken Roczen in second. The Frenchman was the only rider able to break into the 2:07 range.

In the 250 Class, the confidence that came from Cooper's maiden victory one week ago appears to have carried over into Southwick. The New York native has been the best qualifier all season in the division, and he topped the charts for the third time with a lap of 2:08.071, which would have been good enough to put him right behind Musquin in the 450 Class. Fellow Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing rider Colt Nichols was second, seven tenths back.
