Mid-Season Review: Battery Tender RC Hard Charger Award

Friday, July 12, 2019 | 4:30 PM

As longtime partners of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, it's fitting that Deltran Battery Tender serves as the title sponsor of the series specialty award that embodies the company's products. As a manufacturer of the world's most trusted and reliable household commercial battery chargers, jump starters, inverters, and other accessories for vehicles, Battery Tender is a lot like the most accomplished rider in the history of American motocross, Ricky Carmichael.

With more than 100 career wins and 10 career championships in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, Carmichael is the standard bearer of success, and it's why he's affectionately known as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time). Exactly 10 years ago, Pro Motocross cemented Carmichael's legacy in American motocross with the introduction of the Ricky Carmichael Hard Charger Award. This award recognizes the one competitor at each of the 12 rounds of the championship who overtakes the highest number of his fellow racers in either moto of the 450 Class.

The RC Hard Charger Award is a testament to the never-give-up attitude Carmichael displayed over the course of a dominant career that will likely never be duplicated. Each recipient of the Deltran Battery Tender RC Hard Charger Award is recognized at the riders meeting at the following national, where he is awarded with a custom-designed trophy.

The second half of the 2019 season has arrived, and the first six rounds produced some inspired rides from a long list of riders. In total, nine different athletes have earned the RC Hard Charger Award, showing the kind of resilience that defines the award and embodies the mental fortitude of the G.O.A.T.
