FMF Privateer Power Award: Unadilla National

As one of motocross' most storied brands, it's fitting that Southern California's FMF Racing chooses to leverage its partnership and support of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship by touting the athletes who epitomize the brand's core values and, like the legendary exhaust manufacturer, continue to give it their all and strive to be the best, no matter the circumstance. With 45 years of existence, FMF's commitment to the sport is unrivaled, and its longstanding FMF Privateer Power Award has become one of the most coveted accolades amongst the riders who serve as the lifeblood of American motocross.

Each week, FMF and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship ask the sport's loyal fan base to make their voices heard with a vote for who they think should be celebrated for his efforts at each and every stop of the 12-round season. Each selected rider will be recognized for his ability to overcome the odds in pursuit of his racing dream, and the unwavering determination to go bar-to-bar alongside the most talented racers on the planet.

Every so often a privateer will garner attention by grabbing a great start, and going bar-to-bar amongst the elite of Pro Motocross. It's a rare chance to see the true talent and tenacity of these underdog riders, and it often provides a boost of confidence that can lead to a string of improved rides. At the Circle K Unadilla National, Minnesota native Jerry Robin had that opportunity.

The KTM rider pulled a stellar start in the opening 250 Class moto, which put him in the thick of the battle up front alongside the likes of Adam Cianciarulo, Dylan Ferrandis, and Justin Cooper. Robin didn't back down from the challenge, and he made it hard on his factory-backed peers. It was a spirited ride that grabbed the attention of fans at the track and the television audience, and while Robin's results for the afternoon weren't an indication of how well he rode, 20-34 for 24th overall, the racing community recognized his efforts. As a result, Robin was selected at the FMF Privateer Power Award winner for Unadilla.
