The 12th and final round of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is underway from legendary Hangtown in Northern California. Abundant sunshine greeted riders during the morning practice and qualifying sessions for the Carson City Motorsports Hangtown Motocross Classic, which saw two Coopers atop the time sheets. In the 450 Class, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Cooper Webb continued his late-season surge of momentum, while Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper maintained his qualifying dominance in the 250 Class.

Webb has posted back-to-back podium finishes entering the final round and has become a late-season player in the battle for victory in the 450 Class. His fast time from the morning's first qualifying session held through the typically quicker second session, where a 2:12.384 gave him his first fastest qualifier of the summer, just a couple tenths ahead of Team Honda HRC's Ken Roczen in second (2:12.552), with Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac in third (2:12.914).

No one has been able to hold a candle to Cooper's ability to lay down a flying lap in the 250 Class all summer long. With the championship on the line, the Yamaha rider made the first statement of the final round with yet another top qualifying effort, where his time of 2:13.418 was three tenths quicker than point leader Jett Lawrence (2:13.722) aboard his Team Honda HRC machine. Fellow Honda rider Hunter Lawrence completed the top three with a time of 2:14.860.
