The annual Fourth of July tradition of the 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is underway with the KTM RedBud National. The fifth round of the 2022 season kicked off with sunny and blue skies in a morning filled with competitive qualifying in both classes.

The 450 Class time sheets were topped by Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Eli Tomac, who used a fast lap of 2:02.784 in the first session to lead the way. He edged out Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jason Anderson (2:03.505), while Anderson's teammate Joey Savatgy sat  just behind them in third with a time of 2:03.698.

In the 250 Class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Jo Shimoda set the pace in 250 qualifying by clocking the fastest time (2:03.742) in the final session. Team Honda HRC's Hunter Lawrence used a time of 2:03.753 set in the first session to just miss out on pole position. Championship point leader Jett Lawrence was third quickest (2:04.206) and set his best time in the second session.
