Media access is available for national television and radio networks, local television and radio stations, recognized daily newspapers, news services, racing publications, as well as other publications and internet sites that regularly cover motorsports and the sport of motocross.

There are two types of media credentials: Season and Single Event

• Season credentials are reserved for approved media personnel who will attend at least 6 of the scheduled events on the season calendar.

• Single Event credentials are reserved for approved media personnel who will attend less than 6 events throughout the season.

There are two levels of media access: Paddock & Trackside

• Paddock Access: Issued to journalists and editorial staff; permits access to the paddock but does not provide racetrack access.

• Trackside Access: Issued to photographers; permits access to the paddock and the racetrack.  

**Photographers and videographers are required to wear a series-issued media bib.**

Obtaining season-long media access for the Pro Motocross Championship will involve a two-step process. First, all interested applicants must fill out and submit an application for review by MX Sports Pro Racing's Media Manager. Once submitted, each season application will be approved or denied based on thorough assessment of each proposed assignment. Upon approval, confirmed season media members must then complete a credential form and provide digital signatures for various forms, waivers, and agreements.

POLICIES

Eligibility: Applications must be submitted at least 14 days prior to the requested event. Any applications received after this period will not be acknowledged.

Requests must include an assignment letter from an editor or publisher on behalf of the assigned reporter. Credentials will be issued to authorized personnel only for the purpose or providing timely coverage of the event.

Freelance reporters, photographers, and videographers must be on assignment from an accredited media outlet/publication. The included assignment letter must declare this. Un-assigned freelancers will not be permitted.

Marketing and advertising representatives from approved publications, teams, and sponsors will be credentialed only if on editorial assignment. Approval of these requests will be at the sole discretion of MX Sports Pro Racing.

Age Requirements: The minimum age for a Media Credential is 18 years old.

Series Access: A season credential is valid at any Pro Motocross Championship event.

Proper Use: Credentials are specialty hard cards issued by MX Sports Pro Racing. Credentials must be worn at all times during events and only by the individual to whom it was issued. Presentation of a credential signifies to security and event personnel that the bearer has signed the required releases and meets the qualifications for access into restricted areas. Unauthorized or improper use of a credential is prohibited and could result in removal and revocation of all privileges.

Replacement: If your credential is lost, stolen or damaged, contact MX Sports Pro Racing's Media Manager immediately. Depending on the circumstances, a fee may be assessed for replacement.

PROCEDURES

Applicant Information: Complete the required fields in the online application and submit for approval. Make sure all information is accurate. The primary means of communication for additional correspondence regarding each application will be via email.

Outlet/Publication Information: Complete the required fields in the online application and submit for approval. Make sure all information is accurate. Additional correspondence during the review process may involve contacting the editor or publisher providing the assignment.

Assignment Letter: Upload the assignment letter from the editor or publisher of the accredited outlet/publication requesting the assignment.

Releases: Applicants must complete a series of various forms, waivers, and agreements in order to obtain their credential. Releases must be signed electronically in order to process an application.

Submittal: Applications must be submitted at least 14 days prior to the event requested or will otherwise not be acknowledged.

Approval/Denial: Media credentials are approved and denied on a case-by-case basis, at the sole discretion of MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. Series personnel may approve or deny media access at any time, for any or no reason, including inappropriate behavior or violation of event rules. Upon approval, a confirmation email will be sent along with details on how to obtain the credential.

Denied applications fail to fulfill a prerequisite for obtaining approval and are thoroughly reviewed. All denials are final.

Credential Pick-Up: Completed credentials from approved applicants will be available for pick-up at Pro Will Call at all Pro Motocross Championship events. Credentials will NOT be mailed. Proper identification must be provided in order to obtain a credential.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Appropriate Attire: Media are required to dress appropriately. T-shirts and polo shirts, shorts and pants, and close-toed shoes must be worn at all times; tank tops, sleeveless shirts, and sandals are prohibited, as is apparel with inappropriate or indecent logos/markings. Inappropriately dressed media may be required to remedy the situation or face credential revocation.

Event Rules: Media members must observe all event guidelines and regulations. If unsure, please seek information from the Media Manager or on-site security personnel. Do not begin work as a media member unless you understand the event rules and regulations.

Event Information: Pre- and post-race press releases and race results are disseminated on a regular basis to media outlets and publications. Please contact the MX Sports Pro Racing Media Manager if you wish to be added to the distribution list. PHOTO / VIDEO RESTRICTIONS

Trackside Access: Provided with access to the track infield, Media Center, and paddock. All photographers and videographers will be required to wear a series-issued media bib and must keep a safe distance from the race course, or relocate as instructed by officials.

**Access to staging areas, the starting line, and podium parc ferme will be limited to riders, mechanics, and select event staff. A designated media corral will be provided in front of the podium, where select media will be provided with "Front Row" access.**

Photographs: All photos taken are the property of MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. Websites may upload still images from any event; however, these images may not be used for any commercial or retail purposes without the express written consent of MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc., and the athlete(s) depicted. MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc., reserves the right to request the removal of any unapproved photos from publication.

Videos:  Video recording of any kind is prohibited without prior written approval from MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. Upon approval, video access is permitted both in the paddock and on the racetrack. All recorded footage is the property of MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. Any media taking video without approval will forfeit their credential, and the footage will be confiscated. MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc., reserves the right to request the removal of any unapproved videos from publication.

• A content publisher may use videotaped or filmed excerpts of an event for news purposes up to 48 hours after the completion of the event to which they pertain.
• Highlights within the 48-hour period must not exceed two minutes from any one event.
• Under no circumstances may “live” excerpts of an event in progress be distributed.
• For broadcast footage, a visual “courtesy” of at least four seconds must be given as the highlights appear, the visual “courtesy” should read “Courtesy SuperMotocross League/NBC Sports” and must be clearly visible.
• Any video or photography of race action posted on any web site (including blogs and social media) or otherwise transmitted online may be used only for news and editorial coverage of the event and must abide by the media highlights regulations listed above.
• Use of any video or photograph for commercial, advertising, or promotional purpose is strictly prohibited, without prior written consent of MX Sports Pro Racing and/or the SMX League.
• No sponsorship or advertising may be used in a manner that implies any association between any the advertiser and MX Sports Pro Racing and/or any race team or individual rider.
• Online use of any videos or photos shall constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.
• During the first 72 hours immediately following the competition, no more than 5 minutes of highlights per event will be allowed, each clip not to exceed :45 seconds.
• Commencing 72 hours after the competition, no more than 10 minutes of highlights per Event will be allowed, each clip not to exceed :45 seconds.

TRACK ACCESS POLICIES

Only approved photographers & videographers are permitted track and infield access. No other media are permitted trackside access.

The following policies apply to media granted trackside access privileges:

Media Bibs: Media with infield access must wear the assigned bib and credential issued by MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc., at all times while accessing the infield. These items must be clearly visible for event security and event personnel.

Media Safety Meeting: Media granted trackside access must attend one of two mandatory Media Safety Meetings. The first meeting will take place inside the Media Center each Friday at 12:00pm event local time, while the second meeting will take place inside the Media Center each Saturday at 7:30 am event local time. Attending media will receive a track map and be provided with detailed instructions regarding track crossings, permitted and non-permitted areas for shooting, safety expectations, and other information that ensures the well being of media, trackside personnel, and athletes. Media bibs will be distributed following each Safety Meeting. Any media that misses these meetings may lose the privilege of infield access and the issuing of a bib, which will determined at the sole discretion of MX Sports Pro Racing personnel.

Safe Distance: Media trackside access is limited to those areas where media can safely capture images without endangering either themselves or event competitors. Accordingly, media are prohibited from standing in or on the edge of the racetrack or  “otherwise interfering with the race” and must maintain a safe distance from the designated edge of the track surface at all times.

Start Line: Media are restricted from the area behind the Start Gate at all times. Additionally, media are restricted from the area in front of the Start Gate once the Moto Board is displayed. Media are further prohibited from accessing areas directly to the inside or outside of the first turn off the start.

Podium Parc Ferme: Media access at podium parc ferme is permitted, but does include restrictions to the proximity of the awnings behind the podium that is designated as a rider recovery area. Under-tent access is only granted to athletes, team personnel, and members of the broadcast team. Moreover, it is important to note that access to the front of the podium is limited and communal courtesy should be observed amongst all members of the media looking to obtain images of the podium ceremony. Select members of the media will be provided with "Front Row" access at the podium.

Track Access Map: Media are prohibited from crossing the race course during active competition (including practice) other than at designated media crossing areas. In the unlikely event it is imperative to cross an active or “hot” race track, media are expected to do so only in areas that provide adequate opportunity to safely cross the circuit without impeding the on-track activity, and only when safe to do so. Media will be provided with a Media Track Access Map during each Media Safety Meeting on Friday and Saturday, which will indicate the locations of designated media track crossing areas, approved shooting locations, and broadcast camera positions.

Restricted Areas: Media are prohibited from accessing areas of the track where the course design would place them within areas such as jumps and jump landing zones, or where they are unable to continuously see or be seen by oncoming riders.

Interference: Media may not stand in front of or otherwise block any TV camera or sponsor signage. Media are expected at all times to conduct themselves in a safe and professional manner and may not impede in any way the activities of race officials, track workers, or TV camera operators.

Outside Assistance: Media are prohibited from signaling, cheering on, or assisting riders from the infield.

Media Center: Open to all credentialed media. Services include: working internet connection; access to race information (event schedule, entry lists, results); live timing and scoring monitor; live television feed; complimentary beverages and lunch on race day.
