Unadilla Motocross in New Berlin, New York is getting ready to celebrate a huge motocross milestone--- its 50th year! And what better time to do it than at the Circle K Unadilla Pro National on Saturday, August 10th.

Unadilla Motocross, which opened in 1969, celebrates a huge motocross milestone by turning 50.

It's pretty rare that a motocross track in the U.S. turns 50, especially one with a long storied and historical past, a fact not lost on the Robinson Family.

"Unadilla is now on its second generation of owners, but even with that, turning 50 in the motocross world is pretty unique," said Unadilla's Greg Robinson. "In 1969 our father held the first race at Unadilla. Just a few short years later we were running fall Trans-AMAs, an AMA National, and then the U.S. round of the 250cc Grand Prix. There is a lot of history here and Unadilla has been the sight of some epic battles.

"We've thought a lot about how we wanted to blend an anniversary celebration that recognizes our history, while also running the Circle K Unadilla Pro National, and not lose sight of either. I think our fans will like what we have planned. There will be some familiar faces from our history," added Robinson. "Starting in the morning, long time fans will recognize the voice of former announcer Larry Maiers coming over the P.A. as he reminisces in person with racers from the past. Expect to hear from some of the greats like Rick Johnson, Jeff Emig, Broc Glover, Barry Higgins, and Eric Kehoe. Those racers and others will also be in our legend tent near the podium signing autographs and talking to fans at various times throughout the morning. In addition, 12 former racing legends will lead off opening ceremonies in a parade lap of honor. 'The Man' himself, Roger DeCoster, will be joined by Ricky Johnson, Johnny O'Mara, Jeff Emig, Broc Glover and Jack Penton. The man considered to be the first paid pro racer in this country, Barry Higgins, who also raced Unadilla in 1969, will take a lap. New England will be well represented by Doug Henry, John Dowd, JoJo Keller, and John Finkleday. Our local fans will recognize long time New York pro Bruce Stratton. This lap will be a slow ride along the fences so fans have a change to see these racers that have been a big part of our history. Don't be surprised if many of them stop along the way to say hi. We hope fans, both old and new, enjoy seeing these legends as much as we do as we honor our past and present."

The Circle K Unadilla Pro National, presented by Anderson Equipment Company, Eklund Farm Machinery and Massey Ferguson, takes place on Saturday, August 10th. Tickets for the event are available in advance, or at the gate upon arrival. Questions about the Pro National can be directed to [email protected] or by calling (607) 965-8450.
