FMF Privateer Power Award: 2022 Ironman National
Wednesday, August 31, 2022 | 3:00 PM
Over the span of almost five decades, Southern California's FMF Racing has become synonymous with the sport of motocross, developing the finest motorcycle exhausts available in the marketplace. Over the course of its longstanding partnership with the world's most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series, FMF has remained committed to its support of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship by bringing much-needed and well-deserved attention to the underdog racers who fight tooth and nail each weekend as privateers, keeping the dream alive through any means necessary. As a result, the FMF Privateer Power Award has become an embodiment of what the brand stands for and what these lesser-known racers epitomize every time the gate drops.
After every round of the 2022 season, FMF and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will recognize a rider deserving of acknowledgement and celebration for his efforts on the track. Each selected rider will be praised for his ability to defy the odds and capture head-turning results, showing no intimidation as he battles alongside some of the sport's biggest names in an incredibly deep field of world class talent featuring riders from across the globe.
Each recipient of the FMF Privateer Power Award will be given special recognition as part of the riders meeting at the following national and is awarded with a custom-designed trophy.
It might be safe to say that no rider has embraced the underdog spirit of this award more than Estonia's Jorgen Talviku this season. The SC Sporthomes Husqvarna rider began 2022 in the EMX250 division of MXGP before making select MX2 starts. He then chased his dream overseas for a brief stint in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. In his third and final start on U.S. soil at the Tucker Freight Lines Ironman National, Talviku enjoyed one of his best outings of the season. A determined effort in the motos resulted in 16-15 finishes that landed him 15th overall. It signified his best performance here in America and equaled his best result from his MX2 starts and made him one of the easiest choices for the FMF Privateer Power Award this season.
